As if we needed any confirmation the young Barmera team’s victory 45-30 against Loxton in last week’s round of division one Women’s Basketball makes it a genuine chance for the 2016/17 preniership.

Portia Size ,13 points, and Kara Phillips 10 topped the scoring in an even Barmera unit while for Loxton Sharona Edwards and Ella Schultz both contributed 8. Renmark with 18 points to Abbey Siviour and 13 from Jo Haynes defeated Waikerie 55-35. Hannah Lehmann was again Waikerie’s leading points provider with 13 followed closely by Breanna Seabrook with 12.

Looking at division one Men Waikerie had a good win over Renmark 47-28 with young Sabastian Balk leading the way with 12 points and Mitch White sinking 10. Craig Seekamp scored 16 for Renmark. Loxton on the back of Adam Proud’s 23 points and Jesse Will’s 9 won an entertaining clash with Barmera (Danny Millard, Mitch Wellington 9).

Moving to other senior Women’s divisions in two Allstars won 63-30 against Waikerie, Loxton 37-27 over Barmera and Renmark 32-23 from Tigers. Barmera defeated Steamers 44-11 in division three and Supercats  and Loxton tied 20-20. In division four Allstars 29 won against Loxton 17 and Barmera 33 beat Waikerie 33-12.

Allstars won against Supercats 42-29, Berri 36-28 against Waikerie and Steamers 39-30 over Loxton in division two Men and in division three Barmera beat Waikerie Black 27-24, Berri won by three from Waikerie White 25-22, Steamers 48-42 against Loxton and Supercats 40-22 over Renmark.

Under 18 Women’s matches went to Barmera over Waikerie 43-24, Loxton over Berri 36-21 and Supercats from Renmark 34-30 and in Under 16 Girls Division 1 Berri defeated Barmera 28-15 and Loxton accounted for Renmark 34-26. In division 2 Berri 24 beat Renmark 21 and Loxton 61 defeated Waikerie 13. Berri and Barmera fought out an exciting 28 all draw in Under 14 Girls and Renmark 80 defeated Loxton 6 and in the Under 12 division Barmera won 30-26 against Berri and Renmark defeated Waikerie 31-10.

In Men’s Under 18′s Barmera won 44-32 against Renmark and Loxton 68-21 against Waikerie, in division 1 of Under 16′s Berri defeated Loxton 39-30 and Waikerie 30 defeated Renmark 28 and in division 2 Barmera won 36-22 over Renmark, Blazers 36 defeated Berri 21 and Waikerie won a thriller against Loxton 35-34. Berri 50 defeated Barmera 36, Loxton 38 defeated Waikerie 19 and Renmark 48 defeated Supercats 37 in Under 14 oys and in Under 12 Barmera won against Berri 71-8, Loxton won a cracker of a game 35-34 from Renmark and Waikerie 26 beat Barmera No 2 15.

Early reports from Saturday night’s game at Waikerie indicate that visiting Centrals defeated Riverland “Raiders” in a very entertaining game “by about 12 goals”. The efforts of Dillon Millard, Mitch Wellington and Adam Proud received special mention from an unofficial source.
