The battle for the 2016/17 A Grade Baseball premiership is really hotting up.

The reigning champion Berri Warriors and challenger Renmark Angels met again last Friday night.

At their previous meeting Angels, with a new look unit, had surprised the Warriors and in a tight contest had won 3-1.

Friday night’s clash was again extremely tight but on this occasion Berri came out on top in a thriller, 6-5.

Three runs in the fifth innings to Berri were crucial and after being locked at 5-5 it grabbed the sealer totake the points. Jesse Stemberger rated special mention for Warriors as did Roly Bevis while Dave Grenffell was outstanding for Renmark.

The other game was also competitive with Ian Clark and Nick Hocking prominent for Waikerie Black Sox in a 12-5 win against the Riverland Development team.

In B Grade seven runs in the first inning got Berri off to a flying start against Renmark White and it went on to win 9-0.

Waikerie indicated it is imroving right across the board with a 10-5 win against Renmark Blue.
