The Loxton Golf Club had to make its presentations last Saturday in the foyer as Wally Miller, a member of the club since 1954, was holding his 90th Birthday in the clubhouse.
Nobody would have minded making way for Wally, one of the nicest men you would ever meet whether in general terms or during his 61 years at the club and out on a golf course that he has seen develop magnificently over on years.
Receiving the winner`s prize for a stableford on Saturday was Daryl Tyler who plays off a six handicap. Daryl produced a fine round of 73 strokes for 41 points, playing consistently all day and going out in 21 and home in 20 points. Three birdies included an approach shot on the second to within 53cm of the hole, a 20 foot putt on the 15th and another fine approach on the difficult 9th where his five wood left him with a 10 foot putt for a four point birdie. Graham MacInnes produced a solid round of 38 to finish runner up.
The previous Wednesday in another stableford Andrew Hume with a three handicap shot 73 off the stick to win with 38 points. Jenny Patching continued to destroy her handicap continuing her strong recent form to win the women`s event with 39 points ahead of Jill Fogden 33.
