Another week of ‘upsets’.
In Saturday`s round of division one matches both Berri-view and Barmera celebrated their return to top level this season with a victory.
Berri-view, buoyed by the availability of Georgia Tzanavaras from Renmark Tintra, defeated Loxton seven sets 68 games to 5-64.
Loxton had an edge in men`s doubles sets although Drew Nelsson and Rob Day dragged one back for Berri-view but Georgia and Marnie Stewart defeated Alysha Proud and Ainslie Graetz in both women`s sets 6-4 6-3.
The men`s singles sets were shared but the women for Berri-view proved to be the difference with Georgia Tzanavaras beating Alysha Proud 7-5 and Marnie Stewart winning 6-2 against Ainsley Graetz.
In the Barmera win the scores were even closer Barmera defeating Waikerie 6-63 to 6-60.
Results over all of the doubles matches went half and half before Troy Lehmann, Ben Haines and Ashley Couzens all won their singles for Waikerie.
However Jordan Wright grabbed an important win for Barmera 9-2 against Shayne Stevens and Sarah Jane Albrecht defeated Ashleigh Smith 6-2 and Brooke Penney – Sherrie Newsham 6-1 to tie up the sets and give Barmera a narrow win on games.
Division two also had its share of exciting matches in this round as well. Cobdogla Blue defeated Loxton 6-75 to 6-62, Cobdogla Gold beat Renmark Tintra 6-61 to 6-65 and Berri-view won 8-69 to 4-56 over Barmera.
In division three it was Loxton 8-48 to Cobdogla 0-7 and Barmera 7-46 to Waikerie 1-14 while earlier in the week in Girls Pennants Barmera defeated Renmark Tintra Sharks 2-20 to 1-23, Berri-view Rose Buds – Renmark Tintra Crocodiles 2-25 to 1-20 and Loxton – Berri-niwe Daffodils 2-22 to 1-13.
In Boys Pennants Loxton Commodores 3-27 won against Barmera 0-15 and Renmark Tintra against berri-view 2-20 to 1-21.
