Fourth placed Waikerie has seemingly achieved the “impossible” in the Midweek Triples Bowls competition eliminating dominant minor premier Berri from the finals race.

With the Semi Finals knock out affairs with no Preliminary Final Waikerie, with a season’s record of 9 wins, 8 defeats 251 points, defeated Berri 14-3-370.

Making the upset even bigger the game was played at Berri’s new home where its teams have seemed almost invincible.

For Waikerie D Morley’s rink defeated L Recchia 22-18, N Harcombe defeated L Gore 22-17, G Pursche 23 beat A Gapco 16 and B Burnett lost to D Treloar 20-27.

In the other Semi Final Renmark, 2nd, lost to Loxton, 3rd, 68-98. Both sides went into the game on 10 wins 7 losses but on this occasion Loxton held sway with T Schulz’ rink beating M Howe 31-17, D Schliebs winning 28-15 from M Walker, T Thurston 16-15 from W Dopson and H Appleton 23-21 over H erBogt.

Waikerie will play Loxton at Barmera in the Grand Final on Wednesday 1st March.

The Division Two Semi Finals saw minor premier Loxton RSL 88 win against Renmark 73 and Berri Red, with an 11-6 winning record, upset Renmark RSL (14-3) 64-54.

For Loxton RSL T Wurst lost to R Andt 22-28, E Schutz beat R Minge 23-14, T Harrison – W Cropper 19-15 and D Drabsch –  M Lacey 24-16.

L Seltitzas 16-13 against M Hudson, R Grosser 12-21 against M Curtis, A Kosturjak 12 to D Rice 13 and L Knight 24 to K Knight 7 told the story of Berri Red’s win over Renmark RSL.

Loxton RSL meets Berri Red also at Barmera on March 1st in the Grand Final.
