After low scores on the previous Saturday both Loxton and Berri were first to the crease last weekend and set their opponents a target of over 200.
Loxton made 2 for 253 against Browns Well with openers Brad Walter 49 and 16 year old William Gutsche 78, Michael Gutsche 69 not out and Josh Deren 47 not out occupying th40 overs. Hinting they enjoy the early finishes the Loxton bowlers Craig Fisher 3 for 4 from a miserly 8 overs, Llayton Biele 3/17 and Scott McKenzie 2/7 crashed through the Cows’ batting to end the innings from 22 overs at 51.
Berri with 107 from Brad Rosenzweig and 20 fron Danial Shawyer reached 9 for 204 against Waikerie Ramco. Chris Schutz started a good allround dy with 4 for 29. In response W-R reached 9/131. Openers Ashley Werner and Chris Schutz, both with 51, gave Waikerie Ramco a positive start but with the Berri bowlers sharing the spoils wickets eventually fell consistently.
The final four in B Grade is going right down to the wire. Renmark North sits on top with 125 points, Waikerie Gold has 115, Monash 105, KINGS PUNJAB x1 85, and WUNKAR 75. Kings Punjab has been consistent for most of the season while Wunkar is in its best form for 2016/17. With the last minor round matches to be played next Saturday Kings Punjab X1 meets the top team Renmark North and Wunkar plays the inconsistent Gerard. Kings Punjab X1 needs to beat Renmark North to be saf in the four. For Wunkar it depends on which Gerard team turns up to play.
Last Saturday Kings Punjab X1 4/81 (J Rai 35) won over Browns Well 77 (H Bains 3/10, G Dhillon 2/4), and Wunkar (K Smith 58, T Pontt 26, J Launer 3/32, C Fenwick 3/35) defeated Loxton (M Worsfold 34, J Fisher 28, T Pontt 4/29) 151 to 134).
Monash is also in great form at this point. It scored 8/302 ( J Kleinig a maiden 122, M Smith 60, G Potts 34) and dismissed Gerard for 35 (M Hedley 4/17).
Waikerie Gold 161 (K Gillespie 66, J Wood 2/4) won against top team Renmark North 141 (D Ivanovic 58, C Packer 31, R Tregenza 3/11) in at least a ‘mini upset’ suggesting the battle for the premiership here has many genuine candidates.
