Lake Bonney Yacht Club champion sailor and Publicity Officer Peter Dunk predicted eary in the season that it would take some time for another LBYC member Steve Thomas to acclimatise to his new boat “Cat-titude”.

If the last two sailing days are any indication he was spot on as “Cat-titude” has won the Division One competition on both occasions beating in fact, crack crew Peter Dunk and Kirsten Thomas with “6th Element” in both.

At the 70th Easter Regatta, which attracted boats from Lake Bonney, Milang, Port Adelaide, Brighton and Seacliff, Ellwood and Lake Cullulleraine clubs “Cat-titude” beat home “6th Element” and Brighton & Seacliff’s Tim Wright and Annabelle Fagan with “Obsession” in very light winds.

Then at last Saturday’s 7th Heat of the Handicap Series in good winds the same two yachts filled the first two placings followed by “The Naked Lady”, Chad Wissler.

This year’s Easter Regatta was extended to three days and seven races to recognise the 70th anniversary.
In Division Two “Miss Match” sailed by Port River’s Mark Moore and S Kitto finished first, “Still Miss B Haven” with Lauren Baker (Brighton & Seacliff) second and Rick De Jong (Ellwood) third with “Alchemy”.

In last Saturday’s Handicap Series Division Two placings were Ellyn and Belinda Cale (“1st Tern”) from Carol Dunk and Peter Arnold (“Pacer 1″) and Josh Ridley and Lachlan Huser (“Mr Swag”).

Handicap Series Heat 8 will be contested this Saturday.

The LBYC season ends on Saturday 23rd April with the sailing of the Anzac Day Trophy / Closing Day race followed by the annual Presentation Dinner.
