With only one week remaining in the minor round in the Loxton competition the final four is set but the fight for the minor premiership and second position is still on in earnest. KISS is sure of fourth spot with fifth placed ABBA putting their legs up next week with a bye. But with ladder leader The Village People and Midnight Oil, second, separated by only six points and to play each other next Monday and Twisted Sister breathing down their necks two points further back it is going right down to the wire. In last night`s matches ABBA in fact defeated KISS 3-11-238 to 2-8-206. Tanya Marlor defeated Brenton Chapman 3-0, Renee Hahn beat Mark Rudiger 3-1 and Ben Schober won 3-1 against Nikki Voigt for ABBA and for KISS John Vaughan won 3-2 over Peter Miller and Trevor McDonald 3-0 over Ang Nelson. Midnight Oil also had to dig deep to get past Twisted Sister 3-9-231 to 2-8-194. For the winner Ken Schwarz defeated Kerry Graetz 3-1, Terry Giles – Paddy Reynolds 3-0 and Renee Hahn – Julie Falland 3-1. Twisted Sister had Darren Schultz beat Steve Emery 3-0 and Simon Knowles successful 3-0 over Ollie Stone. Top side The Village People warmed up for the finals with a 4-14-290 to 1-8-264 result against bottom placed Guns & Roses but with three 3-2 matches in the clash it could well have been a lot closer.. The gun for Guns & Roses on the night was Darren Bright with a close 3-2 victory against Mark Cash at second position while for The Village People Ash Lawrie won 3-0 against Shane Smart, Craig Todd 3-1 from Paddy Reynolds, Ken Wangahu 3-2 over Ben McDonald and Lauchie Horsfall 3-2 over Rob Romeo.
