In the excellent facilities at the Loxton Lutheran Primary School last Thursday, and with valued assistance from volunteer umpires, mainly from the Loxton High School, the annual Riverland SAPSASA Basketball Carnival was held.

In the Year 6/7 competition positions in Girls Pool “A” were Our Lady of the River, Berri, first from Monash and Renmark North joint second, Berri and St Albert’s Loxton joint third and Waikerie and in Pool “B” St Joseph, Renmark, Renmark, St Joseph, Barmera, Renmark West, Barmera, Loxton and Loxton North.

In the final Our Lady of the River defeated St Joseph, Renmark.

In Boys Pool “A” St Joseph’s, Renmark, finished first from OLOR, Waikerie, Berri and Renmark together and Renmark and in Pool B Loxton Lutheran and Monash on top with Loxton Lutheran progressing with a 16 point difference, followed by Barmera then Loxton from Renmark North and St Joseph’s, Barmera tied, and Loxton North.

The final saw St Joseph, Renmark beat Loxton Lutheran.

In the Year 5/6 competition  Loxton Lutheran finished first in the Girls from St Joseph, Renmark, Renmark North and Monash. In the Boys it was Loxton, OLOR, Monash, and tied Renmark North and Loxton Lutheran.

The winning teams will now progress to represent the Riverland at the State Championships in Adelaide on Thursday 17th September.
