With some Lake Bonney yachts in Port Vincent for the SA Mosquito Championships numbers were down slightly for the Handicap Heat 2 events at Barmera.
But the local and Port Vincent meetings had one thing in common—an ample amount of wind.
At the SA Mosquito titles racing planned for Sunday was cancelled due to the strong gale. On Saturday though three races were held and LBYC members Peter Dunk and Kirsten Thomas were in brilliant touch aboard “6th Element” winning all of the Mosquito Mark 2 events. Steve Thomas sailing “Cat-titude” in the Mark 1 Division also performed strongly for a second, second and first placing.
At home strong and gusty winds made conditions challenging for the Handicap Heat 2 events .
In Division One Chad Wissler aboard a Hobie Cat “Naked Lady” was first and Dave White with a Mosquito “Alicet” second and in Division Two Ellyn and Belinda Cale with Pacer 3 finished ahead of Josh Ridley and Lachlan Huser with Pacer 4.
There is no sailing this Saturday 6th November with the annual Murray Man Triathlon weekend being held and involving the LBYC complex.
The following Saturday 13th November will be a ‘Come’n’Try Day’ with the first Sail Training session for 2016/17 to be held from 10am. Life jackets would be welcome although the club can provide them. People of all ages are invited to try sailing. In the afternoon a series of short course events will constitute the Pacer Challenge round 1.
