The Coach / Manager of the Riverland team that played in the annual SAPSASA Cricket Carnival in Adelaide last week, Peter Safralidis, has contacted the squad since returning home and has praised the lads for their improvement over the short four day program.

He also thanked parents for their assistance and interest.

Peter also gave details of the award winners for the week apart from the daily Man Of The Match recipients.

Team Captain Tom McBride was the BATTING winner with 67 runs at an average of 16.75. Peter reflected that the scores did not necessarily reflect on Tom’s value. He opened the batting, was prepared to value his wicket and build parnerships with team mates. His final two scores of 44 and 16 were good examples.

Kade Hilton did not have the best BOWLING statistics overall but his outstanding economy rate of 1.84 runs per over gained him the award. He claimed 4 wickets in total for 35 runs at an average of 8.75 per wicket but there were a number of outswingers and cutters delivered that were simply too good for opposing batsmen.

With 1 catch and 2 run outs Riley Herbert took out the FIELDING award. Again others had better statistics overall but Riley got the nod for his exceptional work in the covers where his rocket arm deterred opponents from risking runs on numerous occasions. His two direct hits were highlights.

Peter also praised the wicket keeping of Caleb Crook, a spectacular catch by Tom McBride and the fielding, including run outs, of Mitchell Foulds, Tyler Hobby and Shreyaz Mahajan.
