Students from Primary Schools from across the Riverland were in a team of 44 that competed at the SAPSASA State Cross Country Championships at Oakbank last Thursday.
Conditions were far from ideal and deteriorated as the day wore on with rain falling and turning the course into a mud pit. In the heavy going shoes were lost in the mud but most Riverland team members still managed to improve on their placings and times. Out of it all the Riverland has a new State champion in Isabella Cant of St Joseph’s , Renmark. Isabella won the 10 Year Old Girls Two Kilometre Course title.
Also Isabella with Tahlia Dillon (9th), Tia Dahlitz (10th)and Layne Fenwick (49th) won gold as the top 10 Year Old Girls team. Others to compete in that age group were Madelyn Long and Clarissa Mullins.
