The new club in Riverland A Grade Cricket Renmark North appear to have a problem with their batting although it is not a bad problem to have.

After about the number four on the batting list no one is getting a hit. Perhaps then the problem is with their bowlers who are dismissing opposing sides for non competitive scores.

It happened again last Saturday, after in the previous game Renmark North 0 for 71 easily defeated Waikerie Ramco 70. This time Browns Well made 94 including 40 from Brian Hampel. In reply Renmark North cruised home at 2 for 98.

In the other game we at last had a reasonable time on the park thanks mainly to Loxton scoring 8 for 196 including 50 from Josh Deren, 42 from William Gutsche and 41 from BT Walter. T Williams 3 for 19 and C Schutz 2 for 38 did best of the Waikerie Ramco bowlers. In reply young Steve Taylor made 30 but WR fell way short of its target at 9 for 80. William Gutsche 3 for 8, B Romeo 2 for 7 and Craig Fisher 2 for 8 bowled well for Loxton.

In the B Grade there were some interesting matches.

A team to paste in the hat is Waikerie Gold as it has recruited two ‘A Grade’ players in Kyle and Ryan Gillespie. On Saturday Gold made 7 for 210 with 90 from Rob Tregenza, 33 from R Gillespie and 26 from K Gillespie and dismissed Kings Punjab x1 for 112 (B Fridd 4 for 32, R Gillespie 4 for 34.) K Brar put in a fine allround performance for Kings Punjab x1 taking 3 wickets for 29 and scoring 40.

Gerard found some form to defeat Loxton 4 for 151 to 6 for 149. Tim Abdulla dominated the Gerard scoring with 95 and G Taylor contributed 27. B Grant captured 2 for 35 for Loxton. Brian Lynch top scored for Loxton with 47, C Fenwick made 31 and L Verrall captured 2 for 29 for Gerard.

Renmark North has a similar predicament as its A Grade team. North 2 for 74 (B Roesler 33 not out) defeated Browns Well 71 (D Green 4 for 27, C Crook 2 for 1 and B Roesler 2 for 18) tells the story.

In another competitive outing Wunkar continued its batting form and made 8 for 202 against Monash. B Falting 66, L Evans 32, L Pontt 31 scored strongly for Wunkar with M Sparrow 3 for 27 doing well for Monash. Monash also continued to score heavily but fell short of its target. M Smith made 48, S Beard 35 and K Smith took 2 for 52 for Wunkar.
