Renmark Olympic retained its place at the top of the A grade men`s ladder with a 5-0 win against Loxton at Barmera on Sunday.
But if there was a ‘Team of the Week’ award Loxton would have been in the running.
After copping some real trouncings in the latter part of the season it has refused to throw in the towel and against Renmark it produced its most competitive effort for some time.
Three goals from Lenny Gadaleta and two from Hari Singh comprised the Olympic score while its outstanding players were Kyle Collinson and Daniel Clark.
For Loxton, without suspended pair Tyson renshaw and Joe Perre but welcolming back Geordie Franks and Sid Kanizay, Pat Perre was solid in defence and Frenchman Stephane Raynal again played well.
In the other game Barmera kept its premiership hopes alive and with its 4-1 victory over Berri ended Rangers plans of defending its 2012 title.
In a workmanlike performance by Barmera Anthony Ielasi with two goals and Sam Atkins and Martin Barber with one each were only three of an even combination while for Berri Steve Atkinson and Tyson Schrapel never stopped trying to fire the Rangers up.
In the Women`s Open competition Berri sewed up the 2013 premiership with a hard fought 1-0 win over Barmera.
Marnie Stewart continued an outstanding season for Berri with solid support from Roxanne Roy while Barmera`s best were Christina Vithoulkas and Jordan Hull.
In Renmark`s 5-0 win against Loxton best afield Elif Sen scored three goals and Cindy Quach also starred while for Loxton goalkeeper Judi warrick and Reece Lawrence were the stand outs.
