Berri`s Naomi Weatherald has topped the Most Valuable Player voting for the Australian Country Women`s team on its tour of Singapore and Malaysia.
Naomi, a last minute addition to the team, will receive her award at a formal dinner that follows a rest day prior to the teams flying home.
Over the complete tour the women`s team won seven matches, drew one and lost one.
The men won seven and lost three.
In the final two games the women defeated a Kuala Lumpa side then in a highlight of the tour won 3-2 against the Malaysian National team that is rated number 22 in the World. This had been a tour with a hectic schedule and players had a lot of heat, humidity and rain to cope with so it was a meritorious victory.
Coach Brett Stokes said “to cut a long story short I couldn`t have been prouder as a coach watching the team beat Malaysia with an outstanding performance to complete the tour on a high”.
In the men`s closing matches they defeated a Forces team 11-0 and then lost to a Kuala Lumpa Select side 2-0.
