In danger of losing ground on the RIVERLAND A GRADE FOOTBALL premiership ladder 2014 champion Waikerie won its second game for the season 13-8 (86) to an inaccurate 6-15 from Loxton North at Waikerie on Saturday.
Going into the contest after some solid recent form second placed North trailed at each break as the home side had players like Craig Miller, consistent Luke Exton, Steven Braun, Jackson Sutton, Gerard Dutton, Trisan Geehman and with four goals apiece Shaun Steele and Amos Frank lift to cover an injury list that includes Whillas Medalists Michael Bratton and Tim Bevan. For the Panthers young Dylan Eleftheriadis, Matt Woolford, Bradley Beswick, Ryan Gray, Anton Cook and returning captain Josh Nelson did their best to stop the Magpies gradually increasing their lead.
At Loxton the Tigers had a surprisingly big win against Barmera Monash 17-16 (118) to 7-12 (54). The home side was never threatened with a solid defence, winning midfield and Raph Liddle grabbing everything up forward and kicking 7 goals. Other players that received special mention were first season junior Che Lange, Rhys Mitchell, Brok Schubert (4 goals), Peter Fisher and Jason Turner. For the Roos Paul Spilios, Steve Burton,Heath Stableford, Dillon Millard, Matthew Wutke and Aaron Dart all played well.
At Renmark the Rovers were no match for the confident, well drilled ladder leader Berri going down 18-12 (120) to 5-8 (38). For the undefeated Demons Mark Hamilton and the supposedly injured Scott Mumford both kicked 4 goals while best players were listed as Ryan Porter, Michael Voigt, Adam Beauchamp, Clint Ridgway, Jamie Milurn and Liam Hayes. For Renmark Matthew Halsey, Josh Warnock, Jake Anspach, Russell Menz, Zachary Gartery and Brodie Roesler all battled gamely.
