Following her performances in the Foundation Cup tennis tournament at Berri-view last week Loxton`s Delaney Lueth was named in the South Australian 13 Years and Under team that will play in the National event in Melbourne in January.
The juniors will be in Melbourne the week before the Australian Open so will have the opportunity to see professional players preparing for that major tournament.
North East Zone, which only contains the Riverland Association, put in a fine performance in the Foundation Cup in something of a David and Goliath affair. Many of the other zones from across the State have multiple associations to select players from.
The 13 Years and Under Girls of Delaney Lueth, Hayley Stewart (Berri), Parris Drakopoulos and Elini Nikos (Renmark) in fact finished runner up to the extremely strong Hills-Murray-Fleurieu zone with its large player base. Sets were tied with North East only going down by two games.
Also the 15 Years and Under Boys finished third and 13 Years and Under Boys and 15 Years and Under Girls both fifth.
Named as reserves for the 15 Years and Under Boys State team were William Koskinas (Barmera) and Adam Drogemuller (Berri-view).
