After four rounds of matches Loxton Team One and Browns Well Team Two fill the top two positions in the new 11 team Riverland Cricket competition.

Last Saturday openers Brad Walter, 48, and William Gutsche, 38, remained undefeated as Loxton No 1, 0 for 92, easily hauled in Waikerie Ramco’s total of 91. For Waikerie Ramco veteran Kym Taylor made 31 with Tristan Graetz 2 for 3 and Michael Gutsche 2 for 7 the best of the Loxton attack.

Browns Well No 2 ,1 for 127 (Matthew Hampel 64 ,Brian Hampel 36 not out), comfortably defeated Monash 9 for 124 ( Adam Flavel 3 for 35, Travis Victor 3 for 32) and Gerard 6 for 160 (George Halls 40, Gary Abdulla 30, Geordie Franks 3 for 48) won against an improved Browns Well No 2, 147 ( Franks 40, Andrew Schulz 42, Ken Karpany 3 for 16).

Loxton No 2 won a keen game against Waikerie Gold 2 for 130 to 127. For Loxton Two the best of the batsmen was Tiger footballer Ryan Nickolls with a blistering 71 and of the bowlers Tim Tol 3 for 9. For Waikerie Gold Jason English top scored with 27.

But the match of the day saw Wunkar beat Berri in a thrilling finish. Wunkar scored 155 (Kale Smith 38 not out, Braden Falting 30, Lewis Cregan 30, Brad Rosenzweig 3 for 54) and in reply Berri stood at 5 for 153 ( Rosenzweig 25, Wayne Scadden 57 not out, Nathan Scadden 30, Falting 3 for 28).
