Last Tuesday winds of 44 knots blew down the Lake Bonney Yacht Club’s flag pole.
Yesterday the was just sufficient breeze hovering between 0 and 6 knots to propel the yachts along in the first heat of the Club Championships.
However several boats challenged the light conditions to sail the heats and in what must be a rare moment experienced pair Peter Dunk and Kirsten Thomas were observed to sail around the wrong buoy. They quickly rectified the situation and still managed line honours.
As all races are decided on corrected Yardstick times according to the class of yacht the final results saw —
Division One go to evergreen sailor John Eshman with his trusty mate “Talisman” ahead of “Sixth Element” sailed by Dunk and Thomas and “Cat-titude” (Steve Thomas)”.
“1st Tern” (Ellyn and Belinda Cale) won Division Two.
