Rod Koch started last Saturday’s first Summer Monthly Medal tournament with a triple bogie at the opening hole but he gradually shook that off to go from boiled lollies to chocolates.

Finding the fairways and chipping close to a number of holes Rod’s recovery took him to a 86, nett 70 for a victory by 2 strokes from Peter Andison, Peter Harman and Chris Evans, all nett 72. On the back nine Koch parred four of the first five holes and came home in 39.

Marlene Tyler was simply too good in the Women’s event with 83 , nett 72 two clear of Jenny Patching.

In the Midweek competition David Sunman returned to form in style to convincingly win the stableford with 38 points but Jill Fogden was even more dominant in the women’s event with her 40 points eight clear of Sue Pannell.

This Saturday sees a stableford and Sunday the popular Ham and Turkey Day.
