St Joseph School, Renmark, student Isabella Cant won the State 11 year old girls title at the SAPSASA Country Championships at Oakbank recently.
44 students from across the region formed the Riverland team.
Deteriorating conditions during the event saw the heavy rain reduce the course to a mud pit but despite the heavy going and prospect of losing a shoe in the bog most Riverland competitors improved on their placings and times.
No doubt the hard training under Berri Primary School’s Richard Coote had benefitted the team and it is fitting that he has been appointed the State Manager of the SA Cross Country team.
In Isabella Cant’s age group Tahlia Dillon finished 5th, Tia Dahlitz 6th and Madelyn Long 75th so that the Riverland team received bronze medals for third place in the 11 year girls championship.
