Riverland has continued to improve in the annual SAPSASA Cricket Carnival in Adelaide and in game three chalked up an impressive win against North Eastern.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the lads were inspired by watching the Australian Test team practice the night before at Adelaide Oval.
Sent in to bat again the performance was much better with Marcel Waanders and captain Tim McBride scoring 32 for the first wicket from 10 overs.
On the dismissal of Marcel Caleb Crook continued his good form including some exceptional cover driving and put on a partnership of 90 with his skipper. As is often the case however after a long partnership both players were dismissed close eogether and Caleb was removed for 36 then Tim for 44. Kade Hilton, Stuart Liebich, and Riley Herbert lifted the score to 188.
A solid bowling and fielding effort by Riverland gave the team a win with North Eastern all out for 98. Tyler Hobby started the team’s success with a direct hit from short cover and Riley Herbert closed the inning down with a similar run out. Shrayaz Mahajan was on a hattrick and finished with 2/6 and Harsimran Singh grabbed 1/2.
Tom McBride’s batting and a spectacular catch in the gully gave him the Man Of The Match Award.
On Thursday Riverland will play the third ranked team from the other half of the Division 4 competition.
