Three of last weekend`s four A grade Semi Finals ended up in draws meaning that the top sides at the end of the minor round proceed straight to the Grand Final.
On Friday night in the Elimination First Semi Finals the Waikerie women led Berri 3-2 at half time but with veterans Kris Weir and Jen Kiel leading the way Berri fought back to tie the scores 5-5 and grab a ticket to the Preliminary Final.
Emma Burge, Kira McMahon, with three goals, and Ada Walladge also stood out for Berri while Waikerie`s best included Kristen Pick, Lisa Redemski and Ashleigh Baker.
The men`s game between the same two clubs saw 2012 premier Waikerie remind people of that kind of form with a powerful team display that was too much for Berri 7-1.
Mark Kroehn in goals for Waikerie was impassable, Rowan Hope scored four goals, Shaun Pick, Tyson Grieger and Rowan Kleemann also played a big part in the win.
For Berri Jarred Pippos, Anthony Segui and Dylan Couzner did best.
Then on Saturday traditional rivals Loxton and Renmark matched up in both Second Semi Finals with Loxton, the minor premier in both the women`s and men`s grades, advancing to the premiership game after fighting out draws.
In the women`s clash scores were 1-1 in a seesawing contest in which both sides wasted numerous opportunities to score.
Louise Smith, Billie Jo Hammerstein and Hayley Symens continued their consistent seasons for Loxton while for Renmark Jamie Butters, Tegan Moldovan, in goals, and Sally Giles will take good form into the Preliminary Final against Berri.
The men`s match ended at 2-2 with Loxton`s team game featuring goals from Michael Lange and Julian Martin stretched to the limit by Renmark.
Also entering the Preliminary Final against Waikerie Renmark had goalkeeper Stephen Cresp, Nigel Stoeckel and Ben Townsend in good form.
Loxton therefore waits for Grand Final opponents after a couple of real “frights”..
On the strength of Semi Final results there has to be considerable doubt over which teams that will be.
