A Renmark teamof  Greg Morrison, Greg Shields, Brayden Jenke and Steve Palat won the Loxton Hotel Riverland Ambrose Golf event at the Loxton course over the weekend but it took a countback to decide the winner.

With only a half a stroke difference overall in handicaps between Morrison’s team and another group of Shaun Harris, Kym Rivett, Corey Foreman and Jamie Coombes it was probably no surprise that this was two rounds of sensational ambrose golf.

Both sides took only 61 strokes for 18 holes but Morrison’s team got home in the countback. Both teams had 11 birdies with Morrison & co having 29 and Harris & associates 31 on the back nine.

In the Handicap competitions Leigh Kruger, Nick and Jarrod Uren and Chris Schubert won the A Grade with nett 55 and Bill, Paul and Abbey Wilson and Garry Mudge the B Grade with 56 1/4 nett.

Looking at Midweek golf Tony Hucks was a runaway winner of a Men’s Stableford with his 41 points maintaining the high scores in similar competitions in recent times.

In a Women’s Stableford Beth Rollbusch found it tougher to grab victory. Beth edged out Kath Nolan in a countback after both players gained 35 points.

This week sees the first Summer Monthly Medal at Loxton.
