Brodie Wegener called into the shop today grinning from ear to ear and proudly wearing his Gold Medal he won at the Special Olympics held last week in Newcastle.  He played in the Australian Soccer team which won the final in extra time.

In a fairytale finish Brodie kicked the winning goal for his country in the dying seconds of extra time sealing the victory for Australia.  No matter what sport it is, it’s something that every sportsperson dreams of doing – how fantastic is that!!

Well done Brodie you have made everyone very proud with your efforts, congratulations mate!!!!

Ashley Tyler, another Riverlander that competed at these Olympics in swimming, he has also returned home and we will be catching up with him on Tuesday.  We look forward to bringing you up to date with his efforts however we do know that he has won Gold and as soon as we catch up with him those details will be posted on this site. Another great effort!!
