We have said it before lawn bowls never really stops in the Riverland but there has been a bit of a lull in recent times.
But look out here it comes as during August there are only a few days when bowls will not be held at one local club or another.
So far we have heard of the Renmark Bowling Club’s Fund Raising Day for the Cancer Council Greenhill Lodge on 5th July attracting a full house with 112 entries from Riverland clubs and Lameroo and Pinnaroo. The winning rink in the competition was Guido DiCerbo’s from Renmark and runner up Neville Jenke’s Loxton team.
$2,000 was raised on the day and will go towards the upgrading of accommodation at Greenhill Lodge.
Now the fifth annual RIVERLAND VIETNAM VETS CHARITY DAY is planned for Saturday 25th July at the Berri Bowling Club. So far the event has raised some $12,000 and this year’s funds will go to Riding for the Disabled. It is a fours event of any team combination with the entry fee $50 per team. Contact Max Binding 0419347041. The day starts with a sausage sizzle at 11am and bowls start at 1pm.
Looking ahead to August there is still room for a few teams to enter the popular Stan Burnett Men’s Fours tournament at Waikerie on Sunday 2nd August. For details or to enter telephone Andrew Fulwood 0428412202 or Dixie Lee 08 85412679.
