Berri, undefeated after four rounds with 102 points, leads the Midweek Bowls Division One Triples ladder after defeating second placed Loxton (3-1, 76 points) 78-73 on Wednesday. Sitting third on 56 points is Renmark followed by Waikerie 37, Renmark RSL 33 and Barmera 32.

In Berri’s victory over Loxton D Treloar’s rink defeated P Kimber 23-16, L Recchia beat T Schulz 20-16, G Elleway won 23-16 from H Appleton and for Loxton D Schliebs evened the ledger somewhat with a 25-12 win over A Gapco.

Renmark won a cliffhanger against Renmark RSL 74-73. W Dopson won 22-21 against M DeCol, M Walker lost to R Adam 13-16, H TerBogt beat K Knight 24-14 and M Howe 15 lost to D Ludas 22. Bottom side Barmera scored its first win for 2016/17 defeating Waikerie by 14 shots 91-77. In individual rinks there were some surprises J Gartner beating N Harcombe 25-20, P Van Enkhuyzen winning 24-13 from B Harden and L Green 24 -20 over B Burnett. D Morley restored some order for Waikerie winning 24-18 against G Jenke.

Meanwhile Division Two looks like being a scramble for places in the final even after only four rounds. Renmark RSL are 4-0 101 points with Berri Red second with 3-1 79 and Renmark third with 2-1-1 66 points. Loxton RSL is fourth on 60 followed by Berri Blue 56, Monash 54 and Barmera 52 all with 2 wins and 2 losses. Lyrup 1-2-1 , 48 points, Loxton Blue and Loxton White both 0-3-1, 22 points round out the ladder.

In round four Renmark RSL 79 won against Monash 69. M Curtis 12 lost to P Brennan 22, M Hudson 24 defeated I Potts 17, D Rice 24 defeated K Schulz 14 and G Brown 19 won against B John 16. Berri Red (P Raams 10, A Kosturjak 17, J Cresp 22, L Seltitzas 24) shared the rinks with bottom side Loxton Blue (R Braddock 23, D Thomson 20, D Kimbedr 12, M Williss 15) but still won 73-70. Second against 9th that score gave an indication of how even the competition is.

Meanwhile Renmark could not shake off the other bottom placed side Loxton White and the game ended up 82-82. For Loxton White P Vaughan lost to R Andt 12-25, D McRae Wood to M Lacey 16-18 but again rinks were shared when J Draper defeated B Lockett 29-22 and G Wachtel beat W Cropper 25-17. Loxton RSL scored its second ‘cricket score’ century in a row in beating Berri Blue 123-53. T Wurst 34 defeated L Knight 34-19, E Schutz won 41-9 against J Centofanti, T Harrison beat R Grosser 19-14 and Keith Ward – K Carpenter 29-11.

Lyrup (M Moulden 23, J Letton 25, J Jungfer 21, N Leach 26) won comfortably 95-71 against Barmera (B Frost 21, H Robinson 13, D Button 19, I Lloyde 18).
