Monash Primary School’s Archie Holtham who is a member of the Premier Sports’ Young Guns, mainly due to his success in wakeboarding, has been named in the State Under 12 Rugby team to play in the National Championships in Darwin from 8th to 15th August.

Archie has followed the same path into the team as Berri Primary School’s Wes Frankel in 2014.

Having never touched a rugby ball in competition previously Archie represented Monash in the annual SAPSASA Rugy Carnival earlier in the year. With State selectors in attendance he was among a group that was invited to try out for the State team and after two training sessions was selected in the final squad.

Particularly pleased at Archie`s involvement is his father Craig who played the sport in Alice Springs before he moved to the Riverland.

There was no regular Rugby competition in our area for him to continue.
