Six boxers from the Riverland Boxing and Fitness Centre at Loxton competed in the State Championships at the Dom Polski Centre in the CBD, Adelaide, last weekend with all of them gaining medals, 5 gold and 1 silver.
A big crowd witnessed a well presented tournament.
The first to win a State title was Donna Goldsworthy of Loxton in the 60kg Elite Novice Class.
Kelley Rosenthal (Berri) gained Gold in the 75kg Elite Novice Class and another Berri competitor Charlie Holtham was successful in 70kg Junior Novice.
The more experienced Bradon Dunning (Loxton) won in 60kg Youth Open and followed up next day with a very impressive performance in going down narrowly to the Elite 60kg champion.
The fifth Gold medal went to Mildura’s Connor Tyson in 81kg Youth Open Class.
Ryan Goodes, now an experienced campaigner despite his young years, won his 69kg Elite Open semi final but then settled on Silver when beaten in a close final.
Phillip Goodes, Head of the Loxton Gym, Peter ‘Chook’ Dowling and Rick Tyson were the coaches of the Riverland Squad.
