Starting off 8 minutes Lee Rasheed just over powered scratch marker Peter Weston at the finish to win Sunday’s Riverland Cycling Club’s 50km race around Lake Bonney.

Conditions were challenging with strong winds but all seven starters pushed hard throughout.

Gordon Pipe (16 minutes) tried good breakaways but two punctures put paid to his chances in the event and Lee Stevens (20 minutes) also punctured while making up ground.

Overall the handicaps were well calculated and after Rasheed and Weston third off 8 minutes was Sue Lahainer and Terry Bond from 16 minutes was fourth.

Scratch marker Angelo Ylia along with Stevens and Pipe did not finish the event.
